If you have chosen (or been advised that you will need) to have a cesarean delivery, then the information supplied on this website will be invaluable to you. Read about the risks and benefits associated with cesarean delivery - in the context of emergency outcomes, medical elective outcomes and maternal request outcomes. Also read exclusive in-depth interviews with medical professionals, share your experiences with other members, and learn more about the latest developments in cesarean surgery. Still not sure? Read what current members have said about the site here.

February 2008 IMPORTANT NOTE - ec has been free to all members since its launch in February 2006 when we made the decision to rely on voluntary donations for revenue. Unfortunately, this has not proved viable, and without members' help, the site cannot afford to continue. That said, access for all is very important to us, and if you genuinely cannot afford the amount above, please contact us and we will waive the fee. Many thanks.

ec view Too many women are made to feel guilty or ashamed of having a cesarean birth (whether they choose one or one becomes medically necessary). We believe that having a cesarean is a legitimate birth choice, and this site aims to better inform women of the risks AND benefits that are associated with cesarean delivery -  alongside the risks that are associated with vaginal delivery.
